ABOUT ART BATTLES
ArtBattles was created as a reaction to the growing Graffiti culture of the 1990s and early 2000s colliding with Fine Art School sensibilities and taste for healthy competition to perpetuate an artist’s talent and reputation. This has grown to be a study of artist’s relationship to viewer and the “Contest Consciousness” of pop culture today.

Flight Lab 159
159 Bleecker Street
New York, NY 10012

In association with Jordan Brand, Carmelo Anthony has released his newest basketball sneaker - the Melo M8.
Always looking to stay one step ahead of the game, the superstar and his endorser opened up a pop-up concept shop called Flight Lab 159  in a new event space, Pop Up Space NY (popupspaceny.com) at 159 Bleecker Street. This unique exhibit is available for public for 8 days in October.
In this shop you cannot buy the shoes. You can only look. The storefront is anything but humble. Nike jumpman signs are everywhere as well as loud mentions and pictures of Carmelo. Upon entrance, the visitors are faced with what can be seen as an exploding basketball court, reflecting Melo's explosive game. Suspended floorboards are drapes with countless pairs of Melo M8, jerseys, and other apparel with quotes from and about Carmelo himself.  Projections are spread throughout the exhibit. In the core of the structure resides a larger than life movie screen where visitors may view the short film delving into Carmel Anthony’s life on and off the court, as well as his history with Jordan Brand. What everyone came to see is the new sneaker Melo M8. Carmelo had a great deal of input on the shoe's design and its features
